Counter-Strike: Delpan removed, trace joins SK Gaming | SK Gaming

SESK Gaming has removed AWPer SEMarcus 'Delpan' Larsson and brought in Danish star player DKMartin Alexander 'trace' Bang Heldt in his place. The former DK mTw man will make his debut at the IEM VI World Championship in early March.

SK Gaming thanks Delpan for his efforts since joining in the Summer of 2011.

DK trace gave the following statement about joining:

"I am thrilled to get this opportunity. I have had a little break from CS, and I am looking forward to making my return to a high competitive level. During my break I have had a couple of offers, but I felt that SK was the right choice for me. To be in a professional organisation like SK and be able to play with such great players motivates me a lot, and I can't wait to get started."

trace is famous for being one of the most well rounded players in CS, capable of playing at the highest level but all of the weapons. At different times in mTw he was used as a rifleman and a stationary AWPer. His aim is very precise and grinds down opponents.

trace is perhaps the greatest Danish player in CS history when it comes to skill level and big game performances. What he has lacked in his career has been first place finishes on his resume, as his mTw sides were frequently excellent but outlasted by UA Na`Vi.

After time in teams like ATS.dk and SoA trace got his shot in mTw in the latter part of 2009 and immediately helped boost them back to top 3 placings, with a bronze at the 2010 WCG, 2nd at Dreamhack Winter and 2nd at Arbalet Cup Europe. In 2011 the team started out slowly as they fumbled the two IEM events but then began to pickup pace after a 3rd place at Arbalet Cup Europe. A win at Dreamhack Summer put them back in contention as an elite team. Unfortunately their string of bracket draws with Na`Vi began then and they never beat the Ukrainians.

trace and mTw took 3rd at ESWC 2010, 2nd at SEC, the silver medal at WCG 2010 and 2nd at Dreamhack Winter. In 2011 they finished 2nd at IEM V European Championship, 3rd at IEM V World Championship, 2nd at Xperia PLAY, 2nd at Dreamhack Summer and 4th at e-Stars Seoul. Following the South Korean event ave officially retired and the team struggled to find an appropriate fifth, leading to a stand-in-plagued 3rd place finish at IEM VI New York and then the disbanding of the squad.

Since mTw trace has stood-in for Anexis at Dreamhack Winter, where he helped them push champions fnatic to three maps, and had suggested he would attend the IEM VI World Championship but not said with which team. Some had postulated this meant he would form a Danish mixteam with some of his mTw team-mates but in fact he will not attend in SK colours.

A highlight movie of trace from early 2011:

Delpan joining in the Summer of 2011 sparked SK's rise to the top of the scene, as they won Dreamhack Summer during his debut. Wins at ICSC8 and GameGune followed. The only events SK won following that period were IEM VI New York and ESWC, with Na`Vi and ESC/FX eliminating them from the other tournaments. SK placed 2nd at e-Stars Seoul, WCG and IEM VI Kiev. The Ukrainian and Polish powerhouses were the only teams to defeat SK since Delpan's arrival.
