Choose the Ending to 'Hawaii Five-O' Via Twitter

Hawaii Five-O fans will have a chance next week to play detective during a CBS/Twitter choose-your-own-adventure experiment.

Network executives are leaving the ending of Monday's episode up to you. For the first time in primetime scripted television history, the answer remains in the fans' hands, or rather at their fingertips via CBS.com or Twitter.

Beginning at 10 p.m. Eastern on Monday, Jan. 14, the well-tanned Hawaii police team will spend the episode investigating the mysterious death of an O'ahu State University professor, keeping an eye on three prime suspects: the TA, a student, and the boss.

"The Hawaii Five-O viewers will actually get the chance to tell us who they think committed the crime and we will listen," the show's executive producer, Peter Lenkov, said in a statement. "I love that our dedicated and attentive fans will actually play a part in resolving our story."

Each of the accused comes with his own motive and hashtag, and as the on-screen drama unfolds, viewers will be prompted to reach for their second screen to vote for the culprit. Tweet #TheTA, #TheStudent, or #TheBoss depending on your own crime-fighting instincts.

"Behind the scenes, the Hawaii Five-O production team will be tallying the votes immediately, and will put the most popular selection on air to end the show," Grace Chu Lee, of Twitter's TV Partnerships, wrote in a blog entry.

Voting will happen twice, so those on the East Coast might see the ending with the TA in handcuffs, while the West Coast might select the student. CBS will make all three versions available online following the show's airing.
