Meet Bamidele Onibalusi of YoungPrePro.com - Blogging Tips

One of the main goals at BloggingTips.com is to allow bloggers and online marketers connect with each other and learn from other people?s success stories.

This weekend we are official launching out ?Meet the Bloggers? interview series which will feature two new bloggers every weekend. To kick off the series I?m excited to start with my good friend Bamidele Onibalusi, who has an amazing story for someone at such a young age and living in Nigeria. If you ever needed inspiration to start your own business or blog on the internet, Onibalusi?s story is one that you must read!

1.) Please tell us about yourself and how you got into blogging?

It was then that I discovered this article on Steve Pavlina?s blog and it changed my perspective about making money online while also exposing me to blogging; I started my blog shortly after and I?ve never looked back.

2.) What is the focus of your blog and why did you choose that niche?

The focus of my blog is on helping other writers get traffic and make money online. I never planned to start a blog for writers but after a few months of blogging and active guest blogging, I started getting freelance writing clients so I decided to start teaching others how I do the same via my blog.

3.) How are you currently monetizing your blog traffic?

I haven?t really launched a product on my blog but I plan to do so soon.

Currently, two main ways I monetize my blog are by offering my services as a freelance writer/consultant and by promoting affiliate products; freelancing accounts for over 90% of income from my blog. This will probably change when I launch a product.

4.) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started blogging?

One thing I wish I knew that would have changed a lot of things for me was the importance of having a USP and focusing on building a core audience around one subject; I was writing about everything I could think of then but I slowly realized the importance of having a niche and focusing on a core, specific group of people. Things have taken off for me since realizing this!

5.) What are three blogs that you visit almost daily?

I don?t read a lot of blogs consistently but the 3 blogs I?ve been visiting the most lately are Makealivingwriting.com, BloggingTips.com and Leavingworkbehind.com; I visit a lot of other blogs but due to the current topics being written I noticed I?ve been visiting these 3 sites the most lately.

6.) Can you give us three recommended tools/services that you use with your blogging?

The 3 tools I use that help me with my blogging are:

  • Pomodoro App?as a to-do list/timer
  • Google Adwords Keyword Tool for keyword research
  • Sugar Sync for backups

7.) What advice would you have for someone who is just starting with their first blog?

First, develop a Unique Selling Proposition and focus on a core, specific group of readers you want to write for. Once you?ve done that, don?t give up; everything else will naturally fall in place.

8.) What?s the best advice or tip you?ve discovered about blogging since getting started?

The best tip I?ve discovered is the importance of having a plan/strategy behind everything; whether it?s some traffic/income goal I want to achieve, it falls in place when I have a plan compared to when I don?t.

9.) If you only had $100 to start a new blog, how would you use it?

  • Come up with a topic for my blog
  • Register a good domain name and hosting
  • Choose an affordable premium website template
  • Create a service page that contains various services I offer
  • Write a lot of content on my blog and guest posts for other blogs

All the above things will cost less than $100, until a new blog starts to make enough to pay for future expenses.

10.) How can readers of the blog get in touch with you? (social/blog urls)

Thanks!

Also, check out the challenge I recently started on my blog to build a successful blog from scratch ? it?s exciting!

Thanks again Onibalusi for taking the time to share your advice and story with the Blogging Tips community. If you would like to learn about other bloggers and how they are finding success online, be sure to read through our blogger interview series.
