>>> welcome back, everybody. more of today on this boozeless tuesday. we don't need anything else. we are here with the talented mother-daughter writing team, academy award winner julie andrews and emma walton hamilton.

>> they are best-selling authors, and today they have written 27 books with more on the way. the new book is a great one. it's called the very pairy princess follows her heart.

>> oh, my nieces are loving it. it's so -- i love it one so much.

>> welcome, ladies.

>> she is really feisty.

>> she's based on somebody you actually know.

>> she's inspired by my daughter. yeah. very much so. yeah. she has kind of taken on a life of her own, hasn't she?

>> eventually when you write a number of a books in the series she suddenly sprung to life, and you eventually know what she's going to say and do and all of that.

>> how does the writing process work with you two? who does what?

>> together we write every line together, but --

>> we finish each other's sentences.

>> very organic. some writing partners take a chapter each or, you know --

>> it needs to have a singular voice through it. in other words, you got to start together and finish together. you know exactly -- otherwise it's two voices making the one character.

>> we have different strengths. let's discuss those. in writing.

>> what's your mother's strength?

>> she's great about the big idea . she has these wonderful streaks of imagination.

>> big picture . stoo she's great. all cover the entrances and the exits.

>> and what about you? what would you say is emma's strength? snoo she's all the nuts and bolts. she's the big ark. the sack in the second act. we have to do this here.

>> it's more of a director thing, right?

>> yeah. i guess so.

>> by far the better writer.

>> oh really?

>> well, in this book the character faces a little problem when she loses something that she needs so bad, and a lot of kids run into these kind of things. it was beautiful how it was dealt with too in the book.

>> she thinks she's a fair where i -- fairy princess, but she's far from perfect. her socks are around her ankles. it's more about sparkle and individuality and --

>> letting that come forward and celebrating it.

>> exactly. you know, when she forgets her valentine's, and she has to somehow save the day, she tells each of her friends what she loves about them best.

>> there's a reason.

>> you know, she says i like you --

>> you sparkle because or when.

>> you're going to do a little sparkle now with christmas coming up. we'll have another one. you come back and see us.

>> indeed.

>> tell us about -- i just met your niece, your beautiful niece jessica. she said, yes, my aunt -- she said she just finished directoring a musical of a book you had written, and maybe it's going to travel.

>> i heard from your lips to everybody's ears. you talk about it a bit.

>> the book is a great american mouseical. it's a love letter musical. it's about myself who perform in a great theater. we had the great fortune of it turning into a musical, and mom directed it.

>> the music is great, and the lyrics are great, and the choreography is smashing.

>> the audiences love it.

>> loved it. we're very close to being ready to really take it out on the road. this was a workshop, but it was a workshop with an audience.

>> and they do great work.

>> they do.

>> they do.

>> you enjoy directing? was that something that you liked?

>> i do.

>> what is it about it that you like?

>> i think it's handing on, giving back. also instead of just being in the middle and hoping that the big picture is working, i can stand back and look at the big picture , and i love it it's a control freak thing.

>> that's what -- completely right. sfwoo that's what i think every time i hear it.

>> very controlling lady.

>> control freak .

>> we wish you the best of luck with this book. not that you need it. it's a terrific book.

>> it's on the best sellers list.

>> after that you know where
